A Suite Experience: Crafting an Exceptional Guest Retreat

Designing a guest house or suite is an exciting opportunity to create a warm and inviting space that makes your visitors feel at home. Whether you have a spare room, a dedicated guesthouse, or a multifunctional space, thoughtful design choices can transform it into a haven for your guests.

This week, I am excited to share a guesthouse we completed this past summer. This project was not our first time working with the clients so we were familiar with their aesthetic, personal taste, and the level they desired.

We always start with a project with a focus on function and particularly love when we can solve problems around space layout. In this instance, our clients already invested in a set of house plans and had begun the building process. They quickly realized the existing layout was not going to result in the functioning space they had envisioned, particularly not for its primary function of entertaining and hosting guests. With some creative ideas and revamping of the floor plans within the existing footprint, we were able to add the function and purpose they desired.

Then, enter Jenneil — whose keen eye is always on elevating a space. Jenneil worked closely with local trades to tweak the design vision, choosing local millwork supplier YourStyle Kitchens and staircase manufacturer Crown Cabinets for the space. From here, we created a beautiful, welcoming, and high-functioning guest space, one that will create many memorable experiences for our clients and their guests for years to come.

The vision from the start of this project was clear — our clients love the colour blue and gravitate towards a clean and simple aesthetic, so we chose this as a starting point that we carried throughout the design process. The furniture we selected is made to last for guest use, while at the same time, modern and stylish, ensuring that any guest can feel comfortable and completely at home.

Envisioning a space for guests in your home? Whether it's a spare bedroom, a cozy nook, or a dedicated guest suite, we've got you covered with essential tips to create memorable and comfortable accommodations for your visitors.
